About me

Hello, my name is Patricia McDonald, but my friends call me Patti. This website features some of the original artwork I create in my studio. Take a look around and let me know what you think.  The majority of my work is acrylic on canvas and it comes from my heart and soul.  Painting is a source of pure joy and inspiration, so every piece is full of love.  I hope you find something that stirs you.

The inspiration for the Buddha Intention series came from some colorful and meaningful inspirations I saw from another fellow artist. The first one I painted was a very personal gift for my sister. My heart was moved to paint hidden words that came to mind when I thought of her, influences that represented our parents, and even sand mixed in that had a deep meaning and history for my sisters and me. And so the Infusions began, and over time I have brought in more photos, imagery, symbols, mantras, quotes, verses, and other mixed media. What has remained core to my process is to pause and reflect on an Intention for each piece to bring about more calm, love, empowerment, and meaning to the collector and all who see it.

I have also been a commercial artist for many years. I worked in textiles for companies all across the U.S. It would not be unheard of for you to wipe your hands on a kitchen towel, hang curtains, or cozy up in a brand new comforter that included designs and patterns that I helped bring to life.

And because I have seen art bring calm to the mind and joy to the heart I also created a non-profit called Art with Intention, which provides an intentional guided painting program to children and adults facing autism, Alzheimer's, Down Syndrome, stroke recovery, traumatic brain injury, and more. Visit our Art with Intention  Facebook page to learn what we've been up to there.

While you're there, take a peek at my latest Buddha Intentions and activity on my studio Facebook page as well. I would love to connect with you there and hear any of your thoughts and inspirations.

Wishing you so much joy and happiness, friend.
